INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Jotsholo Secondary School was established in 1980 and this was one of the best ‘O’ level results producers in the district. As a day secondary School, most of its text books were running short every term due to students borrowing some books for their home study purposes; this meant the life cycle of most books was shortened. Many would not be returned and students would give all the many reasons why the text book cannot be returned.

State university is a newly established school in Lupane District. All its activities are still carried out at Mabhikwa High School and Bulawayo National University of Science and Technology (NUST).

In Lupane, the construction of the university is happening and it is moving at a good speed.

The two schools are then applying for an assistance of Science books in different departments. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objectives of the project are as follows:-

• To Provide students with the tools needed to prepare for exams and day to day learning
• To improve the school Library

PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

The students of the mentioned schools will benefit quite a lot from the list of requested text books. Also, the facilitators/ teachers/ tutors of the mentioned schools are also going to benefit a lot if the request is positively answered.

As it will be part of the library stock, even the passer-bys and the general public residing in Lupane District will benefit through occasional visits to the libraries of these mentioned schools.

These kids are the future and there is no better investment in kids lives than education.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

Once the request is positively answered, the science standards will be highly improved in the mentioned schools. This will be because the schools are mostly concentrating on Science subjects only. Most of the students who have done well in their upper levels have easily joined National University of Science and Technology. Also, the local community would greatly benefit.
