High-Level Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly

At the 2008 MDG Event on the MDGs held in September 2008, the UN Secretary General proposed the convening of an MDG Summit in 2010. As the MDGs commemorate the 10years since 2000, it was seen as an important opportunity to galvanize the needed efforts and actions in the final five years before 2015 deadline.

The 2010 MDG summit will provide an opportunity for a comprehensive review of the MDGs including the impact of new developments, such as climate change.

Delegates will be made of civil society, private sector representatives, Heads of states, and all those responsible for MDGs in their respective countries, on an equitable geographical basis.
